Job Summary

The Technical Specialist is responsible for assisting in the warehouse with the preparation and de‑preparation of shows, as well as the daily upkeep of the shop and its equipment. The Technical Specialist ensures the return of all gear and reports any damaged equipment to the Warehouse Manager. They are also responsible for completing any repairs that can be handled in-house and coordinating with our preferred vendors for equipment that cannot be repaired internally.

The Technical Specialist will work with project managers and contractors to ensure the correct equipment is deployed for each show, as well as perform any necessary pre‑programming to allow for efficient on‑site deployment. They will adhere to Sightline’s standards and practices for show preparation prior to deployment and proper de‑preparation once equipment is returned to the shop.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare, test, and package audiovisual equipment for live events, ensuring all gear is show‑ready and functioning properly.
  • De‑prep equipment returned from events, inspecting, cleaning, and documenting any damage or missing items.
  • Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and basic repairs on audio, video, lighting, and control equipment.
  • Coordinate with the Warehouse Manager to report damaged or malfunctioning gear and recommend repair or replacement needs.
  • Manage inventory by accurately checking equipment in and out and maintaining organized storage areas.
  • Assist with loading and unloading trucks, ensuring equipment is safely packed and secured for transport.
  • Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and overall upkeep of the warehouse and work areas.
  • Work with approved vendors and service providers for repairs that cannot be completed in‑house.
  • Support show operations as needed, including occasional on‑site technical assistance or setup.
  • Follow safety procedures and company standards to ensure a safe working environment and protect equipment assets.
  • Other projects/duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of audiovisual equipment, including audio, video, lighting, and signal flow.
  • Experience working in a warehouse or live event production environment preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on AV equipment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to safely lift and move heavy equipment (up to 50lbs or more with assistance).
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and overtime as required by event schedules.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to follow technical documentation, checklists, and safety guidelines.

Pay range is $26-$31hr based on skill level and is eligible for overtime.

This is an hourly, non‑exempt, full‑time, in‑person position.

This position predominantly works in a warehouse or show site environment and involves physically moving heavy equipment with appropriate tools. This position must be able to stand for long periods of time and needs to be able to lift 50lbs with assistance safely. Local travel and driving of company vehicles are required for on‑site technical support. Nationwide travel is an opportunity, but not a requirement for this position.

Technical Specialists report to the Director of Operations.
