Overview
Smith & Johnson is hiring an Associate Attorney to join its growing public sector law practice in Minnesota, focusing on criminal prosecution, municipal law, and appellate advocacy.
Responsibilities- Represent government clients in misdemeanor through felony cases.
- Assist in appeals, including drafting briefs and preparing for oral arguments.
- Conduct legal research and draft legal documents such as memoranda, motions, pleadings, and ordinances.
- Attend hearings, trials, administrative proceedings, and council or board meetings as needed.
Required:
- J.D. from an accredited law school.
- Minnesota bar admission (or pending).
- Two to five years of relevant legal experience.
- Strong research and writing skills.
- Commitment to public service and legal excellence.
Preferred (but not required):
- Experience in criminal trial litigation and familiarity with government processes.
