We are seeking a Trial Paralegal to join our Minneapolis office supporting our Healthcare Litigation Practice Group. As a paralegal, you are a critical part of Dorsey's client service teams, working side by side with lawyers, co-counsel, and clients on an array of substantive client matters. - Assist attorneys with litigation processes from pre-trial through post-trial procedures, including document analysis, legal theories and strategies, factual and legal research, trial preparation and attendance.
- Apply in-depth knowledge of legal procedures, healthcare litigation, electronic discovery and document management, terminology, and activities to paralegal tasks.
- Manage large volumes of documents and data, including medical records, working as a team with internal resources and attorneys.
- Locate, review, and summarize information applicable to a particular case, person, or subject through online research or document reviews.
- Review, organize, hyperlink, and maintain document databases and spreadsheets for case tracking, discovery, and document production.
- Fact cite-check and proofread briefs and legal documents.
- Prepare, send, and track subpoenas.
- Work effectively as a team with business professionals and attorneys to collaborate and provide exceptional and efficient client service.
- Organize, monitor, and maintain multiple projects, as needed.
- May be requested to perform additional duties as required.
- Bachelor's degree and/or Paralegal Certificate or equivalent experience.
- At least 3-5 years of experience as a paralegal within the healthcare litigation practice area, preferably with medical malpractice defense experience.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to prioritize and exercise independent judgment.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage a large volume of detailed tasks.
- Ability to work with all levels of personnel in a professional manner.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
- Proficiency with Excel spreadsheets and data manipulation.
- Experience with preparation related to hearings, depositions, trials, arbitrations and mediations.
- Ability to work well under pressure to meet deadlines both individually and in a team environment.
- Practical knowledge of litigation related software and databases, including Nuix and OnCue.
- Practical knowledge of medical imaging software programs.
