Overview
Barnes & Thornburg LLP is seeking an experienced Paralegal to provide advanced legal and transactional support to attorneys in our Government Services and Finance department. This role supports complex public finance and government-related matters and requires a high level of independence, sound judgment, and the ability to manage sophisticated workflows. The ideal candidate brings deep paralegal experience, strong organizational skills, and a proactive, solutions-oriented approach.
Key Responsibilities- Provide high-level paralegal support on complex matters involving municipal finance, public finance transactions, and government entities
- Draft, review, and manage a wide range of legal documents, including transaction documents, resolutions, certificates, closing documents, and correspondence
- Coordinate and manage transaction closings, including signature collection, filing, and distribution of final documents
- Serve as a key point of contact for internal teams, clients, government officials, and external parties
- Maintain and manage matter files and document management systems to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Track and manage deadlines, calendars, and deliverables across multiple active matters
- Conduct legal and factual research and assist attorneys with due diligence as needed
- Support billing, matter intake, and administrative processes, including timekeeping coordination and expense tracking
- Paralegal certificate or associate’s/bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies or a related field
- 8–10 years of paralegal experience
, preferably in government services, public finance, real estate, or transactional practice areas - Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision on complex matters
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and time-management skills
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with document management systems required
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and exercise discretion and confidentiality
- Professional demeanor and strong client-service orientation
