Job SummaryAs a Sales Agent Trainee / Protege with Farmers Insurance Group you will train with the corporate office and work with a seasoned insurance agent in the Twin Cities to learn insurance, marketing, and sales.
Use your sales and organizational skills to meet with clients over the phone or in person, educating them on insurance products—including home, auto, commercial, life, and more—to build and manage your own book of business.
Insurance experience is not required. Farmers Insurance Group provides nationally recognized training, paid insurance licensing, training conferences, and partnership with an experienced Agent.
Enjoy a flexible schedule; base pay, uncapped new‑business commissions, renewal commissions, and bonuses.
CompensationFirst‑year income: $45,000+
Second‑year income: $150,000+ (estimates)

- Provide expert advice on insurance coverage options—auto, home, life, business, and specialty lines.
- Develop and implement sales strategies to generate new business opportunities.
- Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships to assess insurance needs.
- Prepare and present insurance proposals, policy changes, claims, and other inquiries promptly and accurately.
- Stay updated on industry trends, products, and regulations.
- Collaborate with team members to achieve sales targets and agency goals.
- Participate in continuous training programs to enhance product knowledge and sales skills.
- Sales experience preferred.
- Current property, casualty, life or health license preferred; if not, must obtain within 60 days of start (paid by Farmers Insurance Group).
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, negotiation, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and insurance‑related software.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
- High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred.
