EDI Developer

The EDI Developer leads the design, development, management, and optimization of Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) solutions to enable secure, efficient, and scalable information exchange with trading partners. This role has deep hands-on responsibility for EDI mapping, B2B integration, and Gentran-based development, while also supporting daily EDI operations, project execution, customer support, and the implementation of new solutions that improve business processes and reduce costs.


Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and support all EDI operations, providing first-level customer support for EDI-related issues
• Lead EDI mapping development and maintenance, including creation, modification, and optimization of transaction maps
• Develop and maintain EDI implementation schedules, ensuring timely and accurate execution
• Analyze trading partner specifications; build and configure mappings, configure B2B applications, perform partner testing, and create technical and functional documentation
• Serve as a technical expert for B2B Integrator and Gentran environments, including translation, communication, and process flows
• Train internal teams on EDI processes, mappings, and integrations, and provide ongoing support
• Communicate project status, risks, and technical considerations to Marketing, customers, and leadership
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve complex EDI operational and communication issues, including VAN and AS2 connectivity
• Support and enhance EDI translation, communication, and dispatch software
• Participate in system design activities, architecture discussions, and strategic EDI planning
• Contribute technical expertise to marketing efforts by promoting EDI capabilities to customers
• Manage monthly EDI invoice reconciliation and recommend cost reduction strategies
• Participate in ATA and DISA initiatives to enhance EDI standards and best practices
• Assist with vendor management, trading partner onboarding, and agreement coordination
• Participate in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours support for critical system issues

• 5+ years of hands-on EDI development experience
• Strong experience with EDI mapping and transaction development
• Experience with Sterling B2B Integrator (B2
  
  Bi) and related B2B platforms
• Knowledge of EDI standards and transaction sets (including 204, 990, 210, 214, 997, 945, 947, 944, 943, 940, and 856)
• Proficiency EDI development tools
• Experience with EDI translation software and communication protocols (VANs, FTP, AS2, certificates)
• Knowledge of financial EDI processes
• Strong understanding of general programming and system integration concepts
• Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills
