Sr. Technical Writer

As a Sr. Technical Writer at Resideo you will create documentation that enables Resideo's global audience to be successful with comfort, safety, security, and energy efficiency products. You will have the opportunity to work with product development teams to research and publish online, mobile, and print formats for global audiences including professional installers, homeowners, and sales. In this role, you will conduct interviews to define scope, key audiences, task list, and technical requirements.

You will author technical user, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting content; and validate, test, and deliver it according to the target audience and goal. Our Technical Writer’s track all phases of moving finished work into print production or web publishing. Use printed documentation and responsive mobile content to create a user experience that guides homeowners and pros from opening the box through their installation to a rewarding smart home.

• Author and publish single-sourced mobile online, print, and embedded in-app performance support including installation and setup guides, end user manuals, technical bulletins, and packaging used by technical professionals and homeowners.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product Management, Support, Project Management, and Marketing to define documentation architecture, requirements, delivery format, audiences, and technical scope.
• Manages documentation plans, schedules, review, and approval processes.
• Direct the work of illustrators creating assembly and wiring diagrams and product labels.
• Leverage a single-source authoring tool (Mad Cap) to define and use product-specific variables, conditions, and reuse strategy for online and print materials.
• Maintain product domain expertise in assigned HVAC, plumbing, or security systems.
• Ensure technical documentation meets international regulatory standards.
• Manage and implement documentation translations using AI tools.
• Ensure compliance with version control, document testing, approval workflows, and other knowledge management best practices.

• 5+ years of technical writing experience with demonstrated technical writing and editing skills.
• Experience writing and publishing rich media content for mobile applications.
• Experience using Mad Cap Flare or a similar multi-channel, single-source authoring tool to create online and print-ready layouts.
• HTML, CSS, and structured content experience.

• Experience in the HVAC, plumbing, or security systems industry.
• Ability to independently manage multiple projects with moving deadlines
• Experience with DITA, XML, and AI.
• Proficiency with Adobe products including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Framemaker, and In Design
• Proficiency creating graphics and diagrams.
• Formal project management experience.
• Ability to take initiative and work with limited direction in a matrix organization.
