Database Analyst

Key Responsibilities

• Deep understanding of data requirements, business processes, and client needs to inform database design and data structures.
• Design, test, implement, and maintain complex databases with appropriate organization, performance, access patterns, validation rules, and security controls.
• Ensure all database designs align with architectural standards, compliance requirements, and enterprise guidelines. Provide ongoing operational support and assist in root‑cause analysis of database incidents.
• Collaborate with application and operations teams to develop, test, and maintain robust backup, recovery, and replication strategies that meet service‑level expectations.
• Gain thorough understanding of data requirements and business/client needs. Design, test, implement and maintain complex databases with the required organization, access methods, access time, validation checks and security to meet or exceed requirements. Ensure design and implementation meet architectural standards, company guidelines and client requirements. Develop, edit and maintain required documentation.
• Conduct data analysis to support complex reporting, data modeling, system queries, and forms.
• Apply advanced data modeling techniques to create or modify data structures that enhance performance and usability.
• Champion data consistency by identifying data quality issues, enforcing data standards, and supporting data governance practices across teams.
• Monitor data definitions, metadata, and naming conventions to ensure alignment across platforms.
• Serve as the primary administrator for Jira and Confluence
  , including configuration, customization, user management, and workflow design.
• Develop and maintain advanced Jira workflows, automation rules, permission schemes, dashboards, templates, and integration points.
• Maintain Confluence spaces, templates, macros, and content structures to support documentation and knowledge management.
• Partner with cross‑functional teams to translate business processes into effective Jira/Confluence solutions.
• Drive adoption of best practices in Jira and Confluence usage across the organization.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems or related technical field; or equivalent work experience.
• 7-10 years of relevant experience required.
• 5-7+ years of technology experience of increasing scope and responsibility (e.g. software development, database).
• 5+ years of experience with database design, administration and maintenance in distributed and mainframe environments.
• 5+ years of experience troubleshooting and resolving database issues, including performance tuning and capacity planning.
• 3+ years of hands‑on experience administering Jira and Confluence (Cloud or Data Center), including workflow design and automation.
• Proven expertise in database design, to include solid understanding of related programming languages, clustering, backup/restore technologies, replication and security.
• Proven understanding of SQL coding required to understand performance implications and translate requirements to application developers.

• Strong working knowledge of industry‑standards database management tools.
• 4+ years Oracle, Exadata, AWS, etc. (specific technology skill requirements will vary by role and domain).
• 2+ years of experience maintaining enterprise‑scale database environments.
• Hands‑on experience with One Plan or Project Online, particularly in supporting project portfolio management, resource planning, or integrations with Jira/Confluence.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in urgent situations with high pressure and visibility.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
