SummaryThe Ash Group is hiring a Database Administrator for our client (a major electricity and natural gas utility provider). This is a Hybrid 12-month contract role based in Minneapolis, MN
, offering a pay rate of $56.00 per hour. This role supports the Operational Technology (OT) side of the business, including critical SCADA and nuclear systems. We are looking for a multi-platform expert who can manage complex database environments across Oracle and SQL Server while driving automation through scripting.
- Compensation: $56.00 per hour.

- Duration: 12-month contract (High potential for extension).
- Location: Hybrid (3 days onsite in Minneapolis, MN).
- Support and maintain a diverse database landscape including Oracle (12c/19c/21c) and SQL Server ), along with Open Source platforms like Postgre
SQL and MariaDB
. - Execute core DBA functions: database builds, patching, performance tuning, and capacity planning for critical infrastructure projects like the ADMS upgrade.
- Manage Backup and Recovery operations and ensure business continuity through replication technologies such as Data Guard
, Always On Failover Clusters
, and log shipping. - Automate routine tasks and deployments using Korn Shell (Unix/Linux) and Power Shell (Windows) scripting.
- Partner with cross-functional application teams to diagnose performance bottlenecks and provide technical expertise in data architecture and governance.
- Utilize Service Now to manage helpdesk tickets, fulfill requests, and respond to proactive system alerts.
- Professional
Experience:
5+ years of hands‑on DBA experience; a background in Utility or SCADA environments is highly preferred. - Database Mastery: Deep technical knowledge of both Oracle (RAC, ASM, Data Guard) and SQL Server (SSIS, Clustering, Always On).
- Scripting
Skills:
Proficiency in PL/SQL, T‑SQL, Shell Scripting, and Power Shell for automation and complex query optimization. - Operational
Skills:
Expertise in major version upgrades, database migration, and maintaining data integrity across distributed computing environments. - Education: Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business field, or 8 years of equivalent professional experience.
