About the Opportunity:

VALERE is seeking a Senior Cloud Data Engineer for our client. This role focuses on data engineering in AWS and cloud infrastructure components within an established architecture.

• Work with modern technologies including Terraform, Docker, CI/CD, and serverless computing
• Collaborative environment with Product Owners and Architects

• Design, build, deploy, and maintain AWS-based data pipelines
• Spend approximately 80% of your time on data engineering and 20% on cloud infrastructure
• Write and maintain Python code for data pipelines and integrations
• Make improvements to existing ETL processes and pipeline design
• Work with AWS services supporting data ingestion, processing, and storage
• Use Terraform to support infrastructure as code, primarily extending existing scripts and templates
• Collaborate closely with architects to align with established AWS frameworks
• Support REST API integrations and data access patterns
• Partner with Product Owners using Jira and work directly with business stakeholders to understand how data is consumed and presented
• Participate in technical and architectural design discussions
• Deploy changes through established environments using existing deployment patterns

• Strong hands‑on Python experience (primary language used)
• Proven experience building and modifying data pipelines in AWS
• Experience with AWS ETL and data services
• Infrastructure as Code experience using Terraform
• Experience working with REST APIs
• Familiarity with Apache Spark
• Working knowledge of cloud infrastructure concepts alongside data engineering
• Understanding of Docker, with the ability to speak to its use cases even if not heavily used day to day
• Strong collaboration and communication skills

Pay Rate: This is a contract role with an hourly pay rate of $80 - $90/hour W2.

Your specific rate will depend on your qualifications, education, certifications, location, and how well your experience aligns with the client’s requirements.
