Fairview is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Child and Adolescent Inpatient Mental Health Department at our M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center (UMMC) West Bank location i n Minneapolis, MN .
At our Adolescent and Child Inpatient Mental Health unit, we're looking for dedicated individuals to join our dynamic team in providing mental health support for children and adolescents aged 10-18. We're committed to fostering therapeutic engagement through group activities, Occupational Therapy (OT), Therapeutic Recreation (TR), and other therapeutic groups to aid in our young patients' recovery journey. Whether they arrive subdued and depressed or in a state of decompensation and mania, we maintain strict safety guidelines to ensure their well‑being.

ScheduleThis position will be working 0.7 FTE (56 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 8 hours on the night (11pm-7:30am) shift. This position will also work a rotation for every other weekend.
About this Department- The 13‑bed facility offers a unique environment, including single and double rooms, to cater to a diverse patient population.
- Care for children and adolescents aged 10-18.
- Our unit is not only a place of healing, but also a fun and vibrant environment. You'll often find our dedicated staff engaging and playing with young patients, fostering camaraderie and support.
- Utilizing a systematic process to assess the physical and mental health needs of the patient, which will provide a framework from which patient care is planned.
- Administering medications used for the management of behavioral patients with knowledge of actions, contraindications, side effects and desired outcomes.
- Evaluating the effectiveness of the nursing interventions in meeting the identified emotional, psychological and physical needs, making revisions based on these outcomes.
- Monitoring and maintaining a therapeutic environment through active involvement and demonstrated response to change in patient behavior.
- Assessing patients on ongoing basis for risk of violence.
- Uses therapeutic communication skills and follows the parameters of the therapeutic relationship.
- Current MN License
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- 1 year of Mental Health experience (preferred in the last 5 years)
- Bachelor of Nursing (BSN)
- 1 year of Mental Health experience in the last 3 years.
