Overview

Lorenz Clinic has chosen excellence in psychological services and training rather than growth at all costs. Our duty to the public is our North Star, guiding us to select reflective, well-prepared, professional staff. The clinic is founded on interprofessionalism and engages in Reflective Practice to ensure the workplace supports the work itself. Lorenz Clinic has adopted an evidence-based clinician wellness roadmap to support autonomy, reasonable workload, social connectivity, fairness, and alignment with core values.

The Training program offers two distinct doctoral fellowship placements:
Couples and Family Psychology (CFP) and Psychiatry (post-Doctor of Nursing Practice). Each has its own learning paths and activities relevant to the field. A prospectus of training-related activities is available via the Training Director. For psychology fellows, this position offers Couples and Family Psychology as a Major Area of Study with weekly supervision by a Board-Certified Couples and Family Psychologist.

The Post-DNP experience includes weekly supervision from both a psychologist and an advanced practice nurse or psychiatrist, enabling interdisciplinary learning. The fellowship is APPIC-listed for psychology. The clinic supports a scientist-practitioner model with a diverse supervisory faculty focused on training postdoctoral fellows.

The Departments

The fellowship features work on an interdisciplinary team including family therapists, social workers, psychiatry providers, professional counselors, and psychologists. Fellows are integrated into outpatient teams but may support in-home and intensive outpatient teams. Caseloads are assigned according to clinical and training interests and program needs. The training department partners with area graduate programs and maintains a national presence for post-master's and postdoctoral training, accommodating requests from postdocs to begin or continue providing clinical supervision under supervision.

The Role

Fellows function in an applied, clinical role providing services to clients in an outpatient setting. The postdoctoral fellowship is a 1-year, full-time, salaried clinical position that prepares doctorally-prepared trainees for independent clinical work post-licensure. The fellowship represents the final year of intensive, formal training before independent practice and aims to prepare you for your first position as a psychologist or PMHNP.
