About the Job
70% In vitro experiments:
Make and maintain neuronal cultures;
Transfect the cultured neurons;
Perform electrophysiological recording of the neurons.
In vivo experiments:
Prepare hippocampal slices and record synaptic responses
20% Breeding and maintaining transgenic mice. Two transgenic mouse lines are currently maintained in Liao labs. The new hire will help breed and maintain these lines. Making brain slices or neuronal cultures
10% Daily lab duties:
Lab inspections. Maintaining records of lab safety and controlled substances. Scientific writing:
Participate in manuscript preparation as a co-author.
All required qualifications must be included in the application materials.
- Required: BA/BS or a combination of related education and work experience to equal at least 4 years.
- Experience breeding and maintaining transgenic mice.
- Experience maintaining lab safety and controlled substances records.
- Preferred: Experiences in animal surgeries, neuronal culturing or electrophysiology.
