Pharmacy Technicians (Technicians) support pharmacy teams in delivering operational and service excellence. They are often the first point of contact, assisting patients and customers to deliver exceptional experiences, ensuring prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately.

Responsibilities
  • Follow company SOPs at each workstation to aid Pharmacists in managing and improving patient health.
  • Adhere to pharmacy workflow procedures (production, pick‑up, drive‑thru, drop‑off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
  • Show empathy and genuine care, creating heartfelt moments while serving patients; offer immunizations and other services at the register and over the phone; resolve or elevate patient issues.
  • Perform basic inventory activities ( away deliveries, cycle counts, returns, waiting bin inventories) as directed.
  • Demonstrate growth mindset, seek feedback, and pursue opportunities to improve clinical and technical knowledge.
  • Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, including traveling to adjacent stores as required.
  • Understand and comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and CVS policies regarding patient safety, controlled substances, recordkeeping, and privacy.
  • Provide additional patient health care services (immunizations, point‑of‑care testing, off‑site clinic staffing) when licensed and trained.
Immunization Duties (if applicable)
  • Obtain Technician Immunizer status through state Board of Pharmacy requirements.
  • Educate patients on vaccine importance and direct questions to the on‑duty pharmacist.
  • Monitor and report adverse reactions as required.
  • Track and document vaccine supplies.
Required Qualifications
  • Meet state board of pharmacy requirements (age, education, licensure/certification).
  • Age at least 16 if no minimum age is specified by the board.
  • High school diploma or equivalent, unless the board requires otherwise.
  • State‑level licensure and national certification vary by state.
Essential Functions
  • Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
  • Complete required training within the designated timeframe.
  • Focused attention, quick task switching, accurate prescription labeling, and patient safety.
  • Customer service and team orientation: friendly help, patient empathy, appropriate response.
  • Effective communication: use of verbal and written communication, active listening.
  • Mathematical reasoning for inventory and dispensing calculations.
  • Problem resolution: select best actions when faced with options.
  • Physical demands: mobile, lift, reach, stretch, repetitive finger use, visual acuity, occasional lifting up to 20 lbs.
  • Other tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1–3 years of prior Pharmacy Technician experience.
  • Experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
  • Ability to work in the home store and across the market in other locations.
