The Pharmacy Technician Specialist advances the mission of the Pharmacy Department by providing a high-quality service resource via unique or specialized pharmacy tasks. They work in partnership with pharmacists and pharmacy leaders to focus on mission-critical areas where staff are uniquely trained or authorized. The role carries out technical aspects of safe medication preparation under supervision and is responsible for administrative duties such as record keeping and inventory control.
Other medication management and patient/family assistance duties will be assigned according to the specialty area. The specialist conducts audits and analyses, reports findings to leadership for gap analysis and process improvement. Staff in this position are comfortable with autonomy.

- Registered Pharmacy Technician in the state of Minnesota (required)
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) within 1 year of hire (required)
- Associate or higher college graduate degree, or foreign equivalent, or five years of experience in a pharmacy environment or healthcare industry (required)
- Three years working in a pharmacy environment or a combination of equivalent experience suitable for preparation of the individual to work within the specialized pharmacy service (required)
- Experience working within a pharmacy computer system or electronic health record (required)
- Leadership experience (preferred)
- Constitutional skills: able to work independently and prioritize, responsible, adaptable, trusted, creative, problem solver, critical thinker, time management, organized, reliable, dependable, strong work ethic, detail-oriented, focused, committed to learning, team player, ownership
- Consistently self-directed, independent and autonomous in areas of responsibility
- Strong interpersonal skills, written and verbal
- Comfortable working with computer programs such as MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams)
- Experience with dispensing, sterile and non-sterile compounding, and hazardous substances (preferred)

Compensation & BenefitsThe posted salary represents a market competitive range based on salary survey benchmark data for similar roles in the local or national market. Additional benefits may include medical, dental, vision, retirement, and fringe benefits. Positions requiring night, weekend or on-call work may be eligible for shift differentials or premium pay.
