About the Job

Position Summary:

The Department of Neurology at the University of Minnesota invites applications for a full‑time Clinical Research Coordinator (Research Professional
3) position. The coordinator will work on several studies examining movement disorders (e.g., Parkinson’s Disease, and Essential Tremor). Principal Investigator Jing Wang, PhD is part of the Neuromodulation Research Center (NMRC) and Wei Chen, PhD, is a Professor in the Departments of Radiology and Biomedical Engineering. Both labs study cutting‑edge technologies in neurological disorders.

Responsibilities include assisting with the collection and management of data from behavioral experiments in human research participants diagnosed with movement disorders (who may or may not have deep brain stimulation implants), coordinating the enrollment and management of eligible patients, performing evaluations, extracting/reporting quality data and responding to data queries.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Screen and recruit clinical research participants by pre‑screening clinic patients, planning and facilitating database searches, community outreach and collaborating with volunteer databases. (40%)
  • Independently manage clinical trials from beginning to end, ensure accurate data reporting and subject well‑being. Independently coordinate study data collection and entry; collect enrollment and treatment data, using charts, correspondence, electronic medical records, and personal communications with other healthcare workers. (40%)
  • Responsible for interpretation of, application of, and compliance with Federal Regulations, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and University and Clinical Partner policies as it relates to assigned research protocols. (10%)
  • Apply subject matter knowledge to manage, design, and provide training concerning protocol and study procedures; primary responsibility for interpretation and implementation of the study protocol, procedures and definitions for the study team. (5%)
  • Act as an information resource to University faculty and staff for protocol specific queries, including availability of trials, enrollment requirements, specimens needed, etc. (5%)
Qualifications

All required qualifications must be included in the application materials.

Required Qualifications:

  • BA/BS with at least 4 years of experience or advanced degree plus 2 years of experience or a combination of related education and work experience to equal 8 years.
  • Experience in neurology, neuroscience, public health, psychology, or biomedical research.
  • Experience in human subjects research.
  • Ability to take initiative and keep track of duties independently, under general supervision (after appropriate training).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Regulatory experience with human subjects (documentation and event reporting to IRB).
  • Experience conducting or assisting with experiments, and making measurements (preferably in humans).
  • Ability to follow strict research protocols with utmost ethical standards.
  • Knowledge of informed consent process and adverse event reporting.
  • Experience interviewing and documenting study data appropriately.
  • Experience with electronic medical records and HIPAA policies.
  • Data management and/or data analysis experience or aptitude.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $29.33/hr – $32.70/hr; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
