About the Job
The position is within the laboratory of Pippa Kennedy, PhD at the Masonic Cancer Research Center. The employee will work on improving natural killer cell-based immunotherapies for the treatment of cancer. The work will involve a variety of techniques (imaging, flow cytometry, metabolic assays, gene editing) and team science. The ideal candidate would be interested in furthering the scientific understanding of the immunology of cancer and optimizing the use of technology for use by the lab.
Responsibilities will be carried out with instruction, guidance and direction from supervisor. Funding for this position is available for at least two years with potential to extend.
Dr. Kennedy's research group sits within a collection of laboratories interested in furthering natural killer cell therapeutics for the treatment of cancer with which there will be frequent interaction.
This position is based on campus. Per UMN policy, work may be done remotely when appropriate and approved by your manager. All UMN employees are expected to follow applicable public health and safety procedures.
Job Responsibilities- (60%) 'Wet lab' work including tissue sample preparation and staining, microscopy, flow cytometry, sterile tissue culture and cell-based assays.
- (30%) Data analysis using a variety of software packages (Flowjo, Incucyte, Graphpad Prism, Excel, Image
J). - (10%) Report generation, record keeping and general lab management.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Genetics or a related field of science or a combination of education and relevant work experience to equal at least four years.
- Previous experience in a research setting or relevant coursework on Immunology or Cellular Biology.
Preferred
- Interest in immunology and cancer.
- Wet lab experience:
Knowledge of general lab techniques and aseptic cell culture. - Experience with molecular biology, flow cytometry and microscopy.
- Good communication, record keeping, and technical writing skills.
- Ability to identify and troubleshoot problems.
- Familiarity with a programming language (Python preferred).
Pay Range: $41,600 - $43,000; depending on education/qualifications/experience
