The Saskatchewan Marshals Service (SMS) is seeking a skilled and motivated Tactical Analyst to join our team. Tactical Analysts play a crucial role in supporting our mission to enhance public safety by predicting and identifying crime patterns, criminal activity, and providing insights to guide daily strategic operations. This position is responsible for performing specialized functions to assist in serious and complex criminal investigations.
Asa Tactical Analyst for SMS, you will:
- Compile, review and analyze crime patterns, trends and files to identify suspects, crime methods, and high-risk crime locations.
- Research, retrieve and evaluate intel to support policing strategies and operational planning.
- Prepare detailed reports, briefings, and statistical summaries for SMS leadership and operational teams.
- Provide real‑time tactical intelligence support before and during operations.
- Develop and maintain tactical profiles of prolific offenders, gangs and organized crime groups.
- Collaborate with partner law enforcement agencies to share intelligence and best practice.
- Conduct community threat assessments, risk analysis, and evaluations for major incidents and high‑profile events.
- Maintain secure intelligence databases, files, and information systems to support investigations and operations and other related intelligence duties.
You will be a strong critical, analytical, and detail‑oriented professional that will contribute to crime reduction initiatives and operational effectiveness. You will possess knowledge and skills in:
- Preparing reports and making recommendations based on analyzed information.
- Knowledge or experience in policing policies, regulations, and operations.
- Ability to review and analyze large volumes of data and recognize crime patterns/trends.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Considerable knowledge in law enforcement software, spreadsheets, charts/graphs.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Knowledge of data visualization tools, crime mapping, and hot‑spotting. Typically, the knowledge and experience required for this position is obtained through a bachelor’s degree in criminology, statistics, data science, or a related field supplemented by experience in tactical analysis, crime mapping or similar analytical roles, which is an asset.
