Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Financial Reporting Analyst is responsible for supporting the financial reporting and data analytics of the business.
This position serves as a key partner to both the Controller, CFO and general management in support of the accounting function. The ideal candidate has strong communication skills, enjoys analytics, is proficient in the latest technology/software, seeks process improvements and builds collaborative relationships across the organization.
ABOUT USFirst Avenue is the Twin Cities' busiest live music and events promoter and operates the First Avenue Mainroom, 7th St Entry, Turf Club, Palace Theatre, Fitzgerald Theater and all outside venue shows.
HOURS AND LOCATIONThis is a full-time, exempt position. This position will require regular on-site office hours (M-F) but may vary based on show schedule, financial deadlines, and management team needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Reconcile key balance sheet accounts for month-end close in collaboration with current accounting staff.
- Act as expert user of ticketing software to reconcile weekly settlements for box office sales.
- Monitor internal controls and enforce policies for compliance of safeguarding assets, including cash on hand and inventory.
- Work to identify and implement new software or AI tools to maximize efficiency.
- Manage intercompany billings and reconciliations of general ledgers across related entities.
- Assist with the preparation of internal financial statements and monthly package distributed to executive management on the 15 th of every month.
- Manage and analyze multiple event data points and maintain historical data dashboards.
- Prepare internal reports for CFO and executive team related to sales, staffing costs, gross margin, event performance, and hours of operation, among others.
- Monitor and work to develop new metrics for internal reporting.
- Internal reports for various department heads, including booking, marketing, and operations staff scheduling.
- Inventory purchase oversight and price fluctuation monitoring.
- Act as a liaison between First Ave and partners in co-promoted event settlements.
- Coordinate month-end inventory counts and internal controls of on-hand stock.
- Review cash spending for opportunities for savings or efficiencies/alternatives.
- Serve as expert user in accounting ERP system and help further implement best practices in daily operations using the various subledgers of the system.
- Assist with monthly and annual regulatory filings, tax paperwork and 401(k) plan reporting.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance / Accounting
- 3+ years of related accounting experience
- Experience with small-mid size companies
- Public accounting experience preferred
- Broad knowledge and understanding of GAAP
- Advanced skills with Microsoft office (Excel, Word required)
- Knowledge of the Compeat Restaurant Management System or Restaurant 365 accounting software is preferred
- Strong knowledge of business systems and software/automated processes, including AI
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and professional integrity with highly sensitive information is imperative
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently; resourceful and action-oriented
- Capable of handling and prioritizing multiple tasks and projects
- Attention to detail and critical mindset is required
- Uncompromising level of integrity and commitment to accuracy of all work performed
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a diversity of individuals
