We’re looking for a hands-on Controller who can manage financial integrity while partnering closely with operations to drive efficiency and profitability.
Role SummaryThe Accounting Manager will oversee all aspects of financial management—including general ledger, month-end close, and reporting—while actively collaborating with plant operations to optimize processes, control costs, and support strategic decision-making. This is a hybrid role for a finance leader who understands the operational side of manufacturing and thrives in a dynamic, family-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities- Lead all accounting functions: general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and fixed assets.
- Own the month-end and year-end close process; prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls; maintain accurate and timely reporting.
- Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
- Analyze cost structures, variances, and profitability by product line; recommend cost-saving initiatives.
- Manage ERP system data integrity and reporting; support system upgrades or process improvements.
- Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors for annual audits and filings.
- Collaborate with plant leadership to monitor production KPIs, labor utilization, and material yields.
- Provide financial insights to support scheduling, inventory management, and capacity planning.
- Assist in standard costing, BOM accuracy, and cost roll-ups; identify operational inefficiencies.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, 5S) to reduce waste and improve throughput.
- Serve as a key liaison between finance and operations to ensure alignment on goals and performance metrics.
- Communicate financial results and operational impacts to ownership and management.
- Support strategic planning and growth initiatives for the business.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing operations and cost accounting principles.
- Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Experience in food manufacturing or similar regulated industry.
- Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles and operational KPIs.
