The Compliance Risk Manager is responsible for leading a team of compliance risk professionals who support Wealth, Corporate, Commercial and Institutional Banking (WCIB) and the Institutional Client Group (ICG) business lines with compliance risk needs, including regulatory change management, compliance risk reviews and oversight of various regulations and programs. The Compliance Risk manager plays a critical role in driving strategic alignment and operational excellence across the organization.

The successful candidate will work in close partnership with WCIB Risk leadership and the second line of defense partners, fostering collaboration to ensure risk-informed decision‑making and strong governance practices. This role will help develop and maintain a support model that integrates all of WCIB/ICG in a consistent manner. In addition to program oversight, this leader will be tasked with organizational strategic leadership, including the assessment of current organizational structures and workflows.

They will be responsible for identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, streamline processes, and propose innovative ways of working that support long‑term business goals. This role requires compliance and risk management knowledge for the applicable products and services in WCIB and ICG, and the ability to interpret regulatory requirements and apply them to the business line, as well as a forward‑thinking, systems‑oriented leader who can balance strategic vision with practical execution, while building strong relationships across functional and risk teams.

  • Proven experience with leading a team
  • Considerable knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, financial services, and regulatory trends that impact their assigned line of business
  • Demonstrated ability to appropriately influence in a collaborative environment
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously
  • Considerable understanding of the business line’s operations, products/services, systems, and associated risks/controls
  • Strong risk background with considerable knowledge of Risk/Compliance/Audit competencies
  • Strong interpersonal and management skills
  • Strong process facilitation, project management, and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks, risk management, and governance.
  • Excellent coordination and stakeholder engagement skills across business lines and oversight groups.
  • Familiarity with enterprise compliance and risk systems is preferred.
