About the role

Niron has one of the most technologically advanced magnet characterization laboratories in the country, processing over 1000 samples per week from raw material to product reliability testing. The Senior Analytical Lab Manager is responsible for leading a multidisciplinary laboratory team that provides critical analytical measurements and quality data to support R&D, Engineering, and Production functions. This role oversees PhD scientists, analytical engineers, and a supervisor of technicians, ensuring high-quality testing, method development, and operational excellence across the organization.

The ideal candidate is a strong technical leader who excels at cross-functional collaboration, drives innovation in analytical capabilities, and ensures reliable laboratory operations that meet the evolving needs of the business and its customers.

What you ll do
  • Lead and develop a multidisciplinary analytical team, including engineers, scientists, technicians, and a supervisor, fostering a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Oversee daily analytical lab operations, ensuring accurate, timely, and reliable measurement data to support R&D, Engineering, Production, and Quality functions.
  • Ensure high-quality QC testing for raw materials, in-process samples, and outgoing magnet shipments, maintaining rigorous documentation and adherence to internal standards.
  • Drive analytical method development, including designing, validating, and implementing new methods that meet evolving product, customer, and business needs.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to translate technical requirements into analytical solutions that align with capabilities and expectations.
  • Develop and maintain training and calibration programs to ensure safe, correct, and consistent equipment use and to support high-quality, repeatable operations and audit readiness.
  • Oversee capital equipment projects from approval to commissioning. Oversee maintenance through end of life with Niron support from maintenance team and/or vendor service contracts.
  • Champion data integrity and systems discipline, leveraging LIMS (where applicable), and ensuring complete, accurate, and retrievable analytical records.
  • Manage partnerships with external university labs and research centers to expand capabilities.
  • Communicate complex technical results effectively, offering insights, trends, risks, and actionable recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Identify and implement operational improvements that enhance workflow efficiency, method robustness, and equipment utilization.
  • Anticipate future analytical needs, proposing capability enhancements, and resource planning to support long-term business objectives.
  • Apply strong technical judgment and problem-solving skills, approaching analytical challenges with rigor, creativity, and data-driven decision-making.
What We re Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical/Materials/Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 8–12 years in an analytical laboratory environment (materials and/or chemical), including 3–5+ years of people leadership.
