Mortenson is currently seeking an Estimator I and II to join our Solar group. The role involves gathering, calculating, and compiling data to produce project estimates. For smaller projects, the estimator will also prepare the full estimate.
LocationMN – HQ (onsite).
TravelMinimal; up to two trips per year.
CompensationThis position offers opportunities at both levels 1 and 2, allowing candidates to apply based on experience and qualifications. Compensation is determined by experience and location.
Responsibilities- Create Project Estimates
- Complete quantity takeoffs and summations of materials
- Solicit trade partners, obtain bid estimates, and time projections for vendor proposal comparisons and estimate summary sheets
- Help prepare, organize, and coordinate Request for Proposal documents and schedules, utilizing schedule information to estimate General Contractor's and other schedule-driven items
- Determine pricing options and appropriate price for the project
- Support lead estimator in data input into estimating software program(s)
- Perform archive filing and historical cost data gathering
- Participate in plan and estimate review meetings, other project review meetings, and site investigations as needed
- Support lead estimator in gathering information from local government and private entities affecting the project (e.g., permits, hearings)
- Help manage Addendum log and documents from customers/clients
- Provide direction to new Estimators and Engineers as they join the team
- Solicit new bidders when needed and gather necessary documents for inclusion in future projects
- May provide training to other estimators and interns
- Current driver’s license
- Strong attention to detail for organizing and managing multiple project tasks
- Applicable mathematical skills
- Familiarity with building/estimating techniques and software: ISqFt, ICE/Bid2
Win, On-Screen Takeoff (OST), Bluebeam/PDF, Google Earth - Positive professional attitude and strong customer service skills
- Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies
– Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering or similar, or equivalent experience
- Construction industry experience preferred
- Base pay range: $78,800 – $98,500
– Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s or bachelor's degree in Estimating, Mechanical, Civil or Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent field experience
- Minimum three years’ construction operations experience, including exposure to materials management and project operations
- Base pay: $91,700 – $123,800 (higher for Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%; Seattle, WA and Portland, OR – 10%; Washington, D.C. – 12.5%)
Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity. This position is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
