  • External engineering design firm(s) providing detailed design and ongoing support
  • Reviewing field conditions and construction challenges
  • Coordinating with design engineers on design clarifications and changes
  • Ensuring work complies with design intent and project requirements
  • Conduct regular site visits (weekly or bi‑weekly during peak construction) to:
  • Meet with construction management and field representatives
  • Gather direct feedback from the field on issues encountered
  • Observe structural work in progress and support quality oversight
Engineering & Technical Duties
  • Provide structural engineering support with a focus on:
  • Heavy structural steel and large reinforced concrete components
  • Dam and spillway structures and associated civil/structural works
  • Perform technical review of:
  • Design submittals, drawings, and specifications
  • Contractor submittals, RFIs, and transmittals
  • Interface with an external engineering firm responsible for detailed design and ongoing technical support, helping translate field conditions and needs into clear engineering actions.
Project Management Support
  • Assist the project manager and lead structural engineer with:
  • Tracking and organizing technical documentation and communications
  • Managing project submittals, transmittals, and regulatory filings
  • Supporting planning and coordination for upcoming construction phases
  • Help maintain clear, well‑organized project records, especially for regulatory filings and FERC‑related documentation.

Note:

This role does not include direct people management or contract management responsibilities, though informal mentorship of interns may occur in the future.

  • FE/EIT preferred, not mandatory
  • Driving & Travel:
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Reliable access to transportation for travel to/from project sites
Preferred / Nice‑to‑Have Qualifications
  • Experience with hydroelectric facilities, dams, spillways, or “work in water” environments
  • Familiarity with FERC or similar complex regulatory frameworks (not required, but a strong plus)
  • Background with heavy civil/infrastructure such as bridges, large concrete structures, or similar high‑value structural projects
  • Prior experience working for:
  • Owner organizations on major capital projects
  • Construction companies specializing in heavy civil, dams, bridges, or large concrete/steel structures
