Clean Harbors is seeking a Traveling Field Inspector
. The Field Inspector oversees and documents daily site activities for remediation and emergency response projects, collecting soil and groundwater samples, air monitoring data, and completing field activities under the direct supervision of the Field Project Manager/Field Supervisor.
- $15.00/hr - $41.00/hr
- Base pay: $25/hr
- Overtime and per diem available
- Per diem available daily; travel costs covered by the company
- Travel required 95-100%
- Position will travel 6 weeks on the road and 1 week home paid
United States; locations considered on a case-by-case basis.

- Ensure Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes.
- Accurately document site activities, including cost tracking, worksheets, waste shipping logs, manifest management, health and safety logs, meeting notes, and other paperwork via laptop or mobile device.
- Work in the field hands‑on alongside crew and Project Manager/Field Service Supervisor.
- Travel to various project locations, including wastewater treatment plants and soil remediation sites.
- Read and understand project documents and contracts.
- Earn 40‑hour Hazwoper, OSHA 10, and additional certifications through the company.
- Calibrate air monitoring meters and associated Health & Safety equipment.
- Assist with project financial tracking and generate required reports.
- Order and receive supplies for projects.
- Possibly operate heavy equipment.
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or engineering is required.
- Safety oriented with a commitment to safety.
- Willingness to perform manual labor and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Valid driver's license and clean motor vehicle record are required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and strong written and oral communication skills.
- Experience in civil engineering, construction, or surveying is a plus.
- Must navigate varied site conditions, walk several miles per day, and lift 50 pounds unassisted.
- Require prolonged walking, standing, sitting in vibrating equipment, climbing, pulling/pushing, carrying, grasping, reaching, crawling, stooping, crouching, and balance.
- Must speak, listen, understand, and write in English; color perception, depth perception, and vision must be 20/20 (corrected or uncorrected).
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment and appearance; facial hair must comply with respiratory protection policies.

The posted salary range reflects the minimum and maximum target for this role. Final compensation may vary based on location, experience, skills, and business needs. In addition to the base salary, some roles may be eligible for bonus or incentive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package.
