Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Roadway Civil Engineer to be based in Minneapolis, MN. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic team-oriented environment, focused on quality, client-focused outcomes consistent with the expectations of AECOM. Broadly, the role will include performing roadway design and modeling, plan production, traffic modeling & analysis, alternatives development in support of planning and corridor study assignments, business development (proposal development particularly technical approach);
see representative responsibilities below. The candidate can expect to not only support local projects, but can also expect to work on exciting transportation projects across the greater west region of AECOM. The role will require high levels of communication, collaboration and interface with other disciplines for desired project outcomes.
This is a hybrid role with physical presence at AECOM's 800 LaSalle Plaza, Minneapolis MN location.
Engineering practice:
* Performs specific and moderate portions of broader assignments under the direction of an experienced civil engineer.
* Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
* Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests. Clearly documents calculations.
* Accountably, transparently and independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works, as defined by project requirements.
* Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position. Assumes a strong commitment to technical excellence as a developing civil engineering subject matter expert.
Team Practice:
* Strongly communicates and collaborates, leverages required resources in the execution of assigned tasks, and guides the same to junior staff.
* Supports learning-focused team culture by participating and leading lunch and learns.
* Provides guidance to entry level engineers, and sets a positive shadow for development and collaboration.
* Has a "go get it" mentality, as it relates to proactiveness and looking for the next work assignment.
AECOM Standards
* Adheres to AECOM project delivery standards and protocols.
Proposes approaches to solve new problems encountered, using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments. Supports team delivery procedures best practice evolution.
* Accountably and transparently performs work in accordance with agreed-upon budget and schedule, with little supervision.
* Must adhere to AECOM ISO 9001 quality management standards and other policies in the execution of assigned work.
* Must adhere to AECOM safety culture.
Other
* Support AECOM Business Development proposal activities (aka development of project technical approach), and support relationship-building for key transportation practice clients (MnDOT, Minnesota counties and cities within the Twin Cities and other population centers of scale).
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
* Bachelors degree plus 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Preferred Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
* Professional Engineer license in MN or ability to obtain within six months
* Direct working experience with current MnDOT design and CAD standards, with experience working on MnDOT projects of various size and scale, in a variety of roles of increasing responsibility.
* Design experience with Metro Transit and/or Metropolitan Council projects.
* Design experience with ADA and mobility design criteria (MnDOT).
* Computer proficiency in Micro Station;
AutoCAD software packages;
Open Roads Designer;
Hydro
CAD.
* Familiarity with City of Minneapolis street standards.
* Ability to proactively communicate and lead department staff
