Telecom DACS Technician

Our client is searching for DACS Telecommunications Technicians to decommission various locations. These sites may require travel for several months at a time, potentially across multiple states. The project is expected to span about one year.

Candidates must submit to a drug test, a background check, and a DMV test.

The Telecommunications Technician is responsible for decommissioning, grooming, and removal of telecommunications infrastructure from central office and remote sites. This role involves working on fiber‑optic networks, copper systems, and other related equipment. The position requires technical expertise, strong problem‑solving skills, and the ability to work independently in varied field environments while ensuring site safety, maintaining equipment inventory, coordinating with stakeholders, and restoring sites to contractual requirements.

• Equipment decommissioning & removal
• Conduct site surveys and audits
• Perform network circuit grooming to completion, ensuring new circuit paths actively carry traffic
• Use CLI (Command Line Interface) on equipment management ports
• Decommission telecom sites and infrastructure
• Work inside maintenance windows when required
• Remove coaxial cables, fiber‑optic cables, and associated hardware
• Tag cabling disconnected from equipment and tie back to cable tray
• Coordinate equipment disconnection with network operations to prevent service disruptions
• Perform proper shutdown procedures for active equipment before removal
• Test and verify fiber‑optic connections using OTDR and power meters

• Experience logging into telecommunications equipment such as DWDM, SONET, routers, switches, and MUXes
• Fiber‑optics experience (running jumpers, cleaning fiber)
• Experience with test equipment such as OTDRs and related test sets
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel

• Contract position based out of Minneapolis, MN
• Fully remote workplace type

• Pay range: $30.00 – $35.00/hr
