The Associate Engineer is responsible for supporting manufacturing and test processes in an electronic production environment. This position works closely with Process Engineers, Quality Engineers, Production Supervisors and Production Operators. Work authorization support for this role cannot be provided.
Job ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following.
- Responsible for meeting production process goals related to Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost.
- Supports equipment uptime by troubleshooting equipment.
- Interfaces with production operators frequently to gain feedback on the assembly processes.
- Supports continuous improvement activities for existing production equipment.
- Executes Preventative Maintenance work orders.
- Analysis and disposition of electronic assemblies identified as non‑conforming product.
- Supports ECO process through implementation and validation of engineering changes.
- Manages Customer Return assignments for initial response and actions for closure.
- Participates in design for manufacturability, assembly and test activities.
- Weekend On‑Call rotations
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering from an accredited college or technical school.
- 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing support role
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
- Light fabrication and machining skills
- Understanding of process design, cell design and ergonomics.
- Electronics circuit board schematic and hardware troubleshooting.
- Experience programming in LabVIEW.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing
- Knowledge of quality tools such as PPAP, FMEA, Gage R&R and Control Plans
Ability to:
- Apply mathematical concepts, including statistics, to tasks such as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques and sampling theory.
- Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Frequently required to sit in a cubicle, stand and walk.
- Regularly required to hold, handle or maneuver objects with hands and to reach with hands and arms.
- Required to have correctable vision:
- Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less)
- Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more)
- Color vision (distinguish colors)
- Peripheral vision (50% of the job is performed in the office area where the noise level is usually quiet)
