Position: Senior Staff Electrical Engineer

The Senior Staff Engineer, Electrical Design develops new electrical systems and circuits for various products. They research system ideas, create plans for these systems, capture them in specifications and detailed designs, plan, simulate, test, validate and qualify the designs, and make adjustments as needed. They provide support throughout the manufacturing of the electrical products they have designed. This engineer works in global cross‑functional teams with customers, other designers, manufacturing engineering, and project leadership to ensure robust and high‑quality product development.

Experience with relevant product technologies and development processes in the Aerospace and Defense segment is an important asset. Celestica’s broad customer base offers opportunities to lead or support test development projects for customers in other end markets such as Industrial, Smart Energy, and Healthtech.

Detailed Description

This team member is part of a global design and development engineering organization and will interface regularly with other local and regional teams to deliver best‑in‑class engineering solutions.

  • Lead the design, development and implementation of technical solutions in multiple domains. Participate in project planning and scheduling.
  • Provide technical leadership and direction to a team of engineers. Must be a recognized expert (go to person) in one or more technical areas.
  • Review, interpret and negotiate customer requirements/specifications and provide customer feedback.
  • Lead the deployment of strategic programs and coordinate site‑wide deployment efforts.
  • Proactively promote industry best practices.
  • May manage relationships with key vendors/partners.
  • Design, modify and implement systems that meet customer and Celestica needs (e.g., creation of schematics, bills of material, diagrams, drawings, etc.).
  • Test, simulate and measure (including troubleshooting) the performance of systems.
  • Keep up to date with relevant industry knowledge and regulations.
  • Solve complex problems.
  • Liaise with suppliers, customers, contractors, and other internal teams.
  • Analyze and interpret data and information.
  • Recommend modifications for systems.
  • Create reports and documentation.
  • May be a recognized expert (go to person) in one or more technical areas.
  • Must effectively mentor junior level engineers.
  • Project Management – Ability to manage/lead complex, multiple line engineering projects that may involve other functions. Demonstrate solid understanding of the technical, financial and people aspects of the project. Able to create a project/change management plan and ensure the project is delivered within the assigned time and budget. Ability to recognize project barriers and develop mitigation plan.
  • Leadership & Mentoring – Demonstrate "People & Team Leadership Behaviors" as per Celestica Leadership Imperatives. Must effectively mentor more junior engineers.
  • Financial Acumen / Business Planning – Ability to create financial plans for projects, align them internally with line of management and other functions, and externally if needed. Create project plans, profitability calculations, risk and sensitivity analysis, and recognize barriers to mitigate profitability risks.
  • Customer Management – Customer‑facing role with high interaction expected with major customers. Ability to communicate complex technical information effectively to customer leadership and engineers is paramount.
  • Digital / Logic: EE‑Embedded, FPGA, DSP, Static Timing, Tolerance Analysis, EE‑Digital, EE‑Power Point‑of‑Load supplies, EE‑Battery, Signal Integrity, Schematic Modeling, Power Integrity, ESD Controls & Standards.
  • Power: EE‑Power System Design, Switching Supply, EE‑Point‑of‑Load Supplies, EE‑Battery, Power Integrity‑Core Sim, Tolerance Analysis.
  • PCB Layout:
    Signal Integrity, Schematic Modeling, Cadence, Mentor Xpedition, Mentor PADS, Altium Designer, Other Layout tools, Tolerance Analysis, Power Integrity.
  • Schematic Design: EE‑Digital, EE‑Analog, Tolerance Analysis, Static Timing.
  • Analog: EE‑Analog, Tolerance Analysis, RF Design (20 GHz) RF Design.
