Training and Education Program Manager - Masonic Institute for the Developing Brain (MIDB)

Position Overview
The Training and Education Program Manager has primary responsibility for providing administrative leadership to MIDB's Training and Education programs/initiatives with the ultimate goal of increasing exposure and experiences to science and research through experiential learning. This includes but is not limited to developing curriculum, instructional strategies and assessment methods to ensure effectiveness of training and educational programs. This also includes providing day-to-day operations and support of programs and initiatives, expanding training and educational opportunities for undergraduates and high schoolers, developing educational resources and tools, working with leadership to create long-term strategies, and assisting with securing funding for all efforts.
This position is the main point of contact for participants, scholars and mentors, providing resource support and assistance. This position reports to the MIDB's Director of Training and Education which is housed under the Chief Scientific Officer within MIDB. This position works closely with MIDB's central Administrative and Operations team who manages the day-to-day administrative functions and operations. This position is a 100% P&A continuous appointment working at MIDB with flexible hours between 8:00AM and 6:00PM.
A hybrid work schedule is an option.
Responsibilities
Training and Educational Program Development and Implementation (40%)
* Develop curriculum and training materials and sessions for all educational programs ensuring compliance with educational standards.
* Develop and deliver professional development series.
* Implement the Undergraduate Summer Internship Program.
* Recruit and support faculty mentors and/or volunteers for various programs.
* Communicate with internal and external stakeholders about events and opportunities.
* Develop a centralized MIDB portal so students can learn about and apply for positions in research labs.
* Establish regular contact with program grads to follow their development and enhance program and experiences as needed.
* Implement an evaluation process to measure impact of all training/education programs.
* Work with the director and leadership to inform strategic direction, setting goals and priorities which may include developing new programs.
Grant Writing/Financial Support (30%)
* Work with the director to create a strategic approach to identify and secure funding for programs.
* Actively research and maintain an up-to-date list of funding opportunities to support training and education programs.
* Write grant proposals to support programs creating long-term sustainability.
* Assist Principal Investigators with writing some aspects of non-science grant proposals (i.e. T32 grants).
* Engage with funders to secure philanthropic support options for various educational training/programs. This includes collaborating with the University of Minnesota Foundation office and other key partners.
* Set-up and manage payment processes (including stipend process) for those attending training and educational programs.
Training and Educational Programming Operations (25%)
* Oversee daily operations of training and educational programs, including curriculum and policy development, strategic planning, budgeting, reporting, staffing and supervision. Serve as on-site coordinator during programs.
* Support program administration including contracts, registration and financial management processes in accordance with UMN policies.
* Provide administrative leadership and support for various programs the short immersive training programs delivered by MIDB Hubs (e.g., "Brain Camp" type programs) including working with faculty lead to establish dates and reserving rooms. Also, work towards developing robust systems for expansion of bootcamps in the future.
* Develop and manage marketing, outreach, and recruitment/interview materials to recruit undergraduate participants expanding opportunities for under-served populations.
* Serve as the liaison to campus partners for housing, meals, room reservations, undergraduate research programs, etc.
* Ensure all events are inclusive, accessible, and aligned with educational objectives.
Other Duties as Assigned (5%)
* Work with MIDB Administration and Operations and Research Facility and Support Services to manage facility needs, risk management and emergency response plans.
* Lead and/or support MIDB special projects and events related to collaborative opportunities both internally and externally.
