Summary

With the focus to support and advance the Edina Public Schools' mission, vision, and core values, the Security Monitor provides security for school buildings property to ensure the safety of students, staff, and visitors. Under the direction of the Supervisor of Emergency Management and School Safety, and under the guidance of building administration, the Security Monitor patrols school buildings and property, monitoring student behavior, implementing appropriate procedures, and directing traffic flow and parking usage.

The Security Monitor responds to emergencies, intervenes in conflicts, and works with their supervisor and building administration to direct students and staff in crisis situations.

Rate of Pay

The wage for this position ranges from $23.00 to $27.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. Most candidates will start at the entry-level rate of $23.00 per hour. However, candidates with prior work experience in a related field may be eligible for a starting rate of up to $23.70 per hour. For those with direct experience in this specific role, the starting rate may exceed $23.70 per hour, depending on their qualifications and experience.

These decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis, in consideration of the individual's experience and the school district's budget.

Education Requirements

An Associate's Degree is required. Postsecondary coursework in criminal justice, education, youth development, or behavioral sciences is preferred.

  • Experience supporting diverse student populations
  • Background in security or related fields
  • CPR/First Aid Certifications
