Company Description

Students United, established in 1967, is an independent, student-funded, and student-operated nonprofit organization. Serving over 50,000 students across seven state universities in Minnesota, Students United is dedicated to representing the voices and interests of state university students. Recognized by the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Board of Trustees as the sole representative for state university students in Minnesota, the organization advocates on campus, system, state, and federal levels.

Students United actively addresses a wide array of student issues, ensuring meaningful engagement and positive change.

Community Leader Fellowship Overview

The Community Leader Fellowship program is grounded in several core curriculum areas:

  • Professional Development
  • Anti-Racism
  • Principles of Advocacy and Organizing

This program is special because it was shaped with and for students from the start. Students will be immersed in a year-long development program, focused on growing the next generation of student leaders at the 7 Minnesota State Universities.

Each year, we select one student from each of the 7 Minnesota State Universities to serve as a Community Leader Fellow for one academic year.

The Community Leader Fellowship program is on-campus, with some travel to the Twin Cities. Students engage in weekly virtual cohort sessions and support Students United's work at the 7 Minnesota State Universities through organizing, communicating with students and campus administration, and supporting system- and legislative-level advocacy.
