Teach Middle Schoolers at a Moment That Matters

Middle school is when students begin asking bigger questions about the world, about systems, about how things work. At Northeast College Prep, we're looking for a Middle School Science Teacher who can channel that curiosity into rigorous learning, critical thinking, and strong academic habits.

This role is about more than labs and content delivery. It's about helping students think like scientists questioning, analyzing evidence, and communicating ideas clearly while building the confidence to tackle challenging material.

What You'll Do
  • Teach 7th and 8th grade Science to approximately 70 students (class sizes 20 30).
  • Design and deliver standards-aligned, inquiry-driven science instruction.
  • Facilitate Advisory to build community and strong relationships.
  • Provide targeted small-group instruction during daily WIN (What I Need) intervention time.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet a wide range of academic and language needs.
  • Use assessment data to drive instruction and monitor student growth.
  • Implement curriculum with fidelity while keeping lessons engaging and rigorous.
  • Collaborate closely with a small, tight-knit middle school team to create a cohesive student experience.
  • Supervise recess and support shared middle school responsibilities.
  • Communicate regularly and proactively with families.
  • Participate fully in coaching, Professional Learning Communities, and professional development.
  • Attend IEP meetings and partner with specialists to support all learners.
What We're Looking For

We're not just hiring a science teacher. We're looking for someone who:
  • Believes deeply that every student without exception can achieve at high levels.
  • Understands the unique academic and social-emotional needs of middle schoolers.
  • Thrives in a collaborative environment and contributes positively to a small team.
  • Welcomes coaching, seeks feedback, and consistently works to improve their craft.
  • Is aligned with Responsive Classroom, restorative practices, and intrinsic motivation.
  • Is flexible, solutions-oriented, and ready to do what students need to succeed.
  • Has the presence, consistency, and clarity that middle school students respect and respond to.
Qualifications

Must-Haves
  • Minnesota Middle Level Science license (5 8 or 5 12) or eligibility by your start date.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong willingness to engage in regular coaching and professional growth.
  • Commitment to working with students from diverse linguistic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
