Upper School Low Strings Sectional Coach

The Blake School seeks a skilled and passionate part‑time low‑strings sectional coach to support the Upper School orchestra program from September 2026–May 2027
.

This position leads twice‑monthly sectional/masterclasses for cello and/or double bass students on Blake’s Upper School campus in Minneapolis. Blake strongly encourages applications from candidates who will enrich the diversity of identity, lived experience and thinking that makes a community strong and empowers students to engage across differences.

• Experience teaching low strings to high school students (grades 9‑12)
• Expertise in strings pedagogy
  , rehearsal planning and implementation
• Experience teaching both small groups and one‑onone instruction
• BA/BM required; MM preferred
• Ability to collaborate effectively with students, faculty and administrators
• Excellent communication skills

Rate of Pay: $55 per hour

• Lead cello and/or double bass sectional/masterclasses to enhance student technical proficiency, musical expression and independence
• Collaborate with the main instrumental director to align instruction with program goals
• Foster student creativity, discipline and teamwork in a culturally responsive and inclusive environment
