Pay range: Depending on education, qualifications, experience, and position type:

  • Youth Development Casual, $15.25-$23.00 an hour
  • Site Coordinator, $15.25-$21.00 an hour
  • 4-H Treasurer, $20.00 an hour
About the Position

This is a continuous posting used to establish a pool of applicants for potential casual position openings during Spring and Summer 2026 for the Extension Department of Youth Development. Applicants will be selected from this pool on an as‑needed basis.

This posting is for roles like Site Coordinator, 4‑H Treasurer, and similar roles and assisting current Extension Educators, Professors and the department fulfil its goals and responsibilities. These roles provide flexible, high‑impact assistance across key programming, administrative and logistical functions of the department. The primary purpose of these positions is to support program and administrative functions.

Location and Work Environment

Positions located across Minnesota, typically based out of county or regional Extension offices. Interest in available locations and roles will be collected in the required intake survey.

Youth Development Casual Overview / Responsibilities

This role will be utilized to complete various duties on an as‑needed basis. Work may include supporting a county or a regional educator or office, may assist with camp, fair or other related programming or event coordination or related duties as assigned and will typically report to a Program Leader, or other administrator in the department. Pay Range: $ an hour.

Works 0‑14 hours per week, varies depending on work available. A specific work schedule will be determined with the supervisor.

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Must be at least 18 years old by the start date.
  • Basic experience with word processing, email, and internet browsers.
  • Proficient in oral and written English communication skills.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with youth, parents, adult volunteers, and staff
  • Good problem‑solving skills and a solid understanding of risk management
  • Ability to work at varying work locations, often or occasionally in the same work day
  • Valid driver's license and own means of transportation with required liability insurance. Mileage reimbursement provided in accordance with University policy.
Site Coordinator

This role coordinates 4‑H programming at various site‑based locations within a designated county or multi‑county area under the direction of an Extension Educator. Pay range: $15.25‑$21 an hour. Works 0‑14 hours per week (may work morning, after school, weekend, evening or all depending on program schedule). A specific work schedule will be determined with the supervisor.

Responsibilities
  • Assist Extension Educator with creating lesson plans
  • Assist Extension Educator to prepare materials and implement lessons and educational programs
  • Coordinate registration and logistics for youth participants and volunteers.
  • Work with Extension Educator to collect program data and participant feedback for evaluation.
  • Enforce 4‑H rules and regulations under the direction of the Extension Educator
  • Model standards for positive conduct, including language, appearance, and behavior
  • Promote the 4‑H program to potential members, families, and volunteers.
  • Drive program supplies to and from program sites.
  • Other duties as assigned
