Overview
Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for an Educational Director, K-8, for a values-driven, nonprofit day school. This is a full-time, onsite leadership role based in Minneapolis, MN.
This senior leadership role oversees school wide academic leadership for general studies (K–8) while providing day-to-day leadership for the Lower School (K–5). Reporting to the Head of School, this position partners closely with fellow senior leaders to ensure instructional excellence, faculty development, and strong family engagement. The ideal leader brings warmth, structure, and follow-through, balancing strategic academic planning with visible, hands-on school leadership.

- Lead and oversee the general studies academic program across grades K–8, ensuring alignment, rigor, and continuous improvement
- Provide instructional leadership through faculty supervision, observation, feedback, and professional development
- Serve as the primary leader for Lower School operations, supporting students, faculty, and families
- Build strong partnerships with parents through clear, proactive, and thoughtful communication
- Collaborate with senior leadership to support school wide initiatives, student services, and academic planning
- Plan and lead key school events, meetings, and academic cycles with strong organization and follow-through
- Demonstrated success in instructional leadership, curriculum development, and faculty supervision
- Experience partnering closely with families and leading effective school-home communication
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and execute initiatives
- Collaborative leadership style grounded in integrity, professionalism, and trust
- Familiarity with independent school environments, accreditation processes, or mission-driven education is preferred
This position offers a salary range of $90,000–$120,000, along with a competitive nonprofit benefits package. Final compensation is determined based on experience, scope of leadership, and overall alignment with the role.
