Job Description & Qualification

The University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management is seeking qualified applicants at the rank of Lecturer for one position in the Accounting Department. This is a one-year, temporary position from August 31, 2026, through May 30, 2027.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • TEACHING

    ACTIVITIES:

    Candidates will undertake high-quality teaching in the areas of accounting and data analytics. Candidates will teach fourteen credits in the  academic year. Teaching assignments will be either at the undergraduate or graduate level.
  • RESEARCH

    ACTIVITIES:

    Candidates are expected to engage in high quality, academic research activities that build on their doctoral training and prepare them for an independent career.
  • SERVICE

    ACTIVITIES:

    Candidates will take part in the full range of departmental;
    School and University service activities appropriate to rank.
Required Qualifications
  • Candidates must have a terminal degree (PhD in Accounting or a related discipline) OR Master’s degree plus 5 years of related industry and/or academic experience. We encourage applications from candidates who are close to completion of a doctoral degree.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States. This position is not eligible for H-1B or Green Card sponsorship.

  • Candidates demonstrate high potential for teaching and research excellence, including publications in high-quality journals in accounting and related fields, and a strong commitment to serve the department, the school, and the profession.

About the Organization

The Department of Accounting consists of 11 tenure-track faculty members committed to excellence in teaching and research. The tenure-track faculty teach accounting courses to undergraduate and masters’ level students, and accounting research seminars to PhD students. The faculty conducts empirical/archival and theoretical/analytical research in accounting and related disciplines.

Pay and Benefits

  • Pay Range:
    Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. The salary range for this position is $145,000 - $155,000; depending on education/qualifications/experience
