About the position
In the Civil, Environmental, and Geo-Engineering Capstone class, students participate in teams to design a solution for an open‑ended civil, environmental, and geo‑engineering problem. Projects include a cross‑section of critical design tasks from conceptualization through preliminary planning, public hearings, design, environmental impact statements, final plans/specifications, and award of contracts. Student design reports must include an assessment of sustainability and an evaluation of issues related to ethics, diversity, equity, and inclusion.

This role will include attending in‑person class sessions and providing academic, project‑management, and progress support to student teams working on a term‑long project. The position is temporary, part‑time, with weekly hours averaging between 6‑7 hours per week.
Job Duties60% Collaborate with CEGE faculty co‑instructors / Course Instruction
- Attend in‑person class sessions throughout the term (Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4‑6 p.m.).
- Prepare 1–2 lectures delivered during scheduled class times.
- Prepare for student team meetings every other week during scheduled class time; review and comment on student work; grade assignments.
20% Meet with students
- Meet with student teams every other week to monitor progress.
- Be available to students outside of class time to answer questions via e‑mail or during office hours.
20% Grade homework
- Review and comment on student work.
- Grade homework on a weekly basis and return to students in a timely fashion.
- Follow rubrics to grade students’ final presentations and reports.
This position is not eligible for H‑1B visa sponsorship.
QualificationsRequired Qualifications:
- Master’s degree.
- Five years of engineering practice experience.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Patience, dedication, flexibility, and enthusiasm.

Pay And BenefitsFixed Pay Rate: $3,750 per course credit.
