Position SummaryNorth Central College invites applications for adjunct faculty to teach Special Education ( SPED ) courses within the Department of Education. Adjunct instructors are responsible for planning and delivering engaging instruction, assessing student learning, ensuring course content aligns with established standards, evaluating and grading student work, and holding office hours to support student success.
Adjunct faculty appointments are made on a course-by-course basis. This posting is intended to build a pool of qualified candidates for future teaching opportunities, as program needs vary from semester to semester. If your academic background and expertise align with departmental needs, you may be contacted to discuss available assignments. This is a non-benefits-eligible, fixed-term appointment with no tenure eligibility. The number of courses assigned will depend on departmental needs and sufficient course enrollment.

Description ofKey Responsibilities
Note that all functions described below must be performed, and it is normally the responsibility of the individual in this position to perform them and/or see that they are performed.
- Working with prior syllabi and master course outlines, plan a comprehensive hybrid online course meeting course objectives and standards.
- Establish relationships with students, cultivating a classroom culture of character conducive to growth and development.
- Support the department and College’s mission, vision and values, and contribute to the advancement of program goals.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to continuous quality improvement.
- Demonstrate civil and inclusive behavior when interacting with staff, faculty, students and prospective students to the program or College.
- Promote a flexible, collaborative and inclusive work environment and engage in educational opportunities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
Individuals must possess the knowledge, skills and abilities described below or be able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
- Excellent communication skills (persuasive and negotiation skills, strong writing, public speaking, interpersonal and public relations skills).
- Ability to represent North Central College in a professional manner, recruit and work within a diverse community.
- Ability to self-initiate and execute with minimal supervision.
- High level leadership, organizational, time management and planning skills.
- Experience: K-12 special education teaching experience
