What You’ll Do

As the Beacons Center Program Coordinator, you’ll lead the design and daily operations of a high-quality after school learning center at Franklin Middle School (grades 6–8). You’ll create and manage engaging, culturally relevant programming that supports youth leadership and development, while building strong relationships with students, families, school staff, and community partners. This role also involves supervising part-time staff and volunteers, coordinating with community organizations, and ensuring alignment with YWCA Minneapolis and the Beacons Network.

Key Responsibilities
  • Designing and delivering youth programs grounded in best practices in youth development.
  • Directly engaging youth and families in enriching activities and leadership opportunities.
  • Evaluating program effectiveness and implementing improvements.
  • Overseeing scheduling, recruitment, curriculum planning, and space use.
  • Hiring, training, and supporting part-time youth workers and volunteers.
  • Collaborating with school staff and community partners to strengthen youth services.
  • Representing the YWCA in community events, networks, and committees.
  • Managing program budgets and ensuring effective use of resources.
  • Supporting a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all participants

    Deep understanding of best practices in middle school programming and positive youth development.
  • Leadership:
    Experience coaching and supporting diverse part-time staff and volunteers.

    Skilled in building relationships with schools, families, and community partners.

    Ability to engage effectively with youth and families from varied racial, ethnic, and economic backgrounds.
  • Program Design & Evaluation:
    Proficient in planning, implementing, and assessing youth programs for continuous improvement.
  • Communication:
    Strong verbal and written skills, with confidence in presenting to groups and stakeholders.
  • Time Management:
    Organized and adaptable with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
