Para educator Special Education - 2025-26

Full-Time – 184 days/6.5 hrs/day
Duties:- Assists in the instruction of students with disabilities in mainstream, resource room or center-based settings.
- Managing behavior (redirecting, calming or removing a disruptive student from the classroom).
- Monitoring and recording student progress in instructional areas (academics, daily living skills, dressing, grooming, social skills, etc.).
- Managing physical needs (toileting, feeding, dressing, lifting, positioning, transporting students in wheelchairs, etc.).
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Personal Care Assistant certification completed within 30 days of start date.
- Completed 60 semester/90 quarter credits or obtained an associate degree (or higher) from a regionally accredited institution, or passed the Para Educator exam or Para Pro exam (documentation required).
- Good communications, interpersonal and record‑keeping skills.
- Ability/desire to work with technology and computers.
- Ability to work cooperatively with students and staff.
- Ability to supervise students.
- Ability to take direction.
- Ability to maintain regular attendance, which includes completing an assigned day.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds.
- Ability to perform position responsibilities, including physical factors, work devices, materials handling, data functions and people functions – such as toileting, feeding and self‑care procedures, implementing a behavioral management program, maintaining student data, and working with students who may display aggressive, abusive, or inappropriate verbal and/or physical behavior.
- Must be physically working in the building.
$20.00/hour to $25.30/hour (DOQ with K-12 experience)
$21.15/hour to $26.45/hour (with AA/AAS degree or 60 semester/90 quarter credits, DOQ with K-12 experience)
$22.00/hour to $27.30/hour (with BA degree from a regionally accredited institution, DOQ with K-12 experience)
Special Ed Paras serving center‑based students and classrooms ≥ 50% of their time receive an additional $0.50 per hour.
Special Ed Paras at Two Rivers Transition Program or River Trail Learning Center receive an additional $1.00 per hour.
Start Date: ASAP
Insurance benefits available for assigned positions of 6 hours or more per day.
