The University of Minnesota Medical School Department of Dermatology in Minneapolis seeks outstanding applicants for a faculty position focused on computer science and dermatology. Candidates with a research focus in inflammation, inflammatory dermatoses, immuno-oncology, immune checkpoint biology and novel therapeutics development are encouraged to apply. Candidates are expected to have postdoctoral training, a track record of scholarship and history of successful grant funding.

The successful candidate is expected to have and/or obtain an independent, externally funded, and sustainable scholarly research program. Evidence of conducting rigorous and innovative research and a track record of publications is required. The candidate will participate in Department of Dermatology faculty and research activities, teach medical students, residents, graduate students and post-docs.

Effort: 80–100% of effort will be spent in a research setting—overseeing the development and completion of research projects; writing new grant proposals to secure independent funding; preparing manuscripts for publication. The campus provides state-of-the-art core facilities for biomedical research, including the Genomics Center and Imaging Center with spatial proteogenomics technology from Ionpath, 10X Genomics and Nanostring.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in department faculty and research activities.
  • Teach medical students, residents, graduate students and post-docs.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Successful candidates will have a PhD, MD, MD/PhD or equivalent in relevant research areas described above.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience as a principal investigator developing grant proposals with evidence of success in obtaining research funding
  • Experience at the intersection of computer science and dermatology
  • Evidence of excellent communication skills demonstrated by presentations
  • Evidence of research excellence shown by awards, presentations and/or publications
  • Evidence of multidisciplinary collaborations

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range:
Starting salary will be approximately $120,000, depending on education/qualifications/experience.

Time Appointment: 75%–100% Appointment
