Part-time Adjunct Faculty, Landscape Architecture

Overview

Part-time Adjunct Faculty, Landscape Architecture (multiple openings) at the University of Minnesota. Candidates should demonstrate a strong interest in teaching and mentorship, with applied knowledge of contemporary landscape architecture practices. Areas of credentialing may include urban public space and ecological systems, urban integrated infrastructure, site-scale project programming/design/construction, advanced visual representation techniques, landscape analysis workflows (including GIS data), and/or earthwork grading and stormwater management.

• Course instruction in graduate or undergraduate courses, including development and preparation of syllabi, lecture materials, course readings, and other instructional materials.
• Hold regularly scheduled office hours and advise students regarding coursework and academic or career goals.
• Supervise graduate student teaching assistants.
• Coordinate with other faculty on learning objectives, deadlines, schedules, etc.
• Provide regular updates to the Department Head regarding course instruction and student progress.
• Create a welcoming and professional classroom environment for students, faculty, and staff.
• Identify opportunities to integrate diversity in course instruction.

• Accredited professional degree in Landscape Architecture
• Professional project experience and demonstrated expertise in one or more areas listed above
• Professional landscape architectural practice or scholarship as outlined
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Commitment to working collaboratively across departments and in the community

• Masters in Landscape Architecture or an accredited professional degree in landscape Architecture plus a Masters or PhD in a related field
• Demonstrated record of excellence in professional practice or teaching
• Attention to cultural diversity in teaching and/or professional practice with commitment to equity and diversity

• Part-time (actual percentage determined by credit load)
• One or two semester teaching appointment at the level of Adjunct Assistant/Associate/Full Professor, based on qualifications
• Appointment specifically for Fall 2025 and Spring 2026

Pay Range: $6,000 - $14,510, depending on credits taught, discipline, education, qualifications, and experience. Retirement plan options are available for eligible classifications.
