Position Overview

The Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at the University of Minnesota is seeking a Gastroenterologist/Hepatologist with a strong interest in hepatology and transplant hepatology.

This is a faculty role within a highly collaborative academic division committed to cutting-edge, patient-centered care, with the opportunity to help further develop and expand hepatology and liver transplant programs.

Opportunity Highlights

  • Serve as inpatient attending on the liver service at
    M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center
  • Conduct outpatient liver clinics at a state-of-the-art facility
    M Health Fairview Clinics and Surgery Center - Minneapolis
  • Provide consultative services and outreach activities
  • Develop and grow a clinical research program
  • Actively participate in the academic missions of:
    • The Department of Medicine
    • The Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition
  • Teach and mentor medical students, residents, and GI fellows
  • Access ongoing professional development through:
    • Educational conferences
    • CME
    • Collaboration with nationally recognized specialists

About the Division

The Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition offers depth across subspecialties, including:

  • General GI: IBD, esophageal disorders, complex polypectomy, functional GI disease, and AI in endoscopy
  • Transplant Hepatology:
    One of the longest-standing liver transplant programs in the U.S.
  • Advanced Endoscopy:
    Nationally recognized expertise in ERCP, EUS, and complex pancreaticobiliary disorders

The Division is committed to excellence across its three core missions:
patient care, education, and research.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine residency and Gastroenterology fellowship
  • Board certified in Internal Medicine and board certified/board eligible in Gastroenterology
  • Advanced training and clinical experience in hepatology and/or transplant hepatology strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated excellence in:
    • Patient care
    • Medical education
    • Teaching and collaboration
  • Licensed or eligible for Minnesota medical licensure and DEA
  • Ability to obtain and maintain U.S. work authorization per visa requirements
  • Meet all credentialing and privileging criteria
