Overview
The Department of Medicine's Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine (PACCS) seeks an Assistant or Associate Professor faculty on the Academic or Clinician Track with clinical focus on Lung Transplantation. The division features more than 80 faculty across four principal hospital sites and leads in Interstitial Lung Disease, COPD, Lung Transplantation, Critical Care Medicine, Cystic Fibrosis, Interventional Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine.
The team pursues basic, clinical and big data research while striving to prevent respiratory illness and partners with faculty across the University and with community colleagues across research, clinical and education efforts.
- Devote at least 85% effort (90% or 95% for Clinician Track) to high-quality clinical care to fill a faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor or above, in the Academic Track or Clinician Scholar track.
- The remaining effort will be dedicated to education and collaborative research activities with expectations consistent with promotion in the academic track (for example, an average of at least one publication per year).
- Clinical effort predominantly at the University of Minnesota Medical Center and Clinics, Surgery and Center, and at University of Minnesota's East Bank Hospital.
- Participate actively and contribute to PACCS Division and Department of Medicine academic and clinical programs.
- Those with a primary clinical focus and particular interest in lung transplantation are encouraged to apply.
- Build an academic program that promotes high-quality care with associated scholarship while collaborating with colleagues and developing innovative research and/or educational programs.
- Develop an area of focus and expertise, gradually building a regional and national reputation; participate actively in multidisciplinary programs and clinical/research conferences; participate in journal clubs and core curriculum lectures; and teach students, residents and fellows. Education and/or clinical research experience are desirable.
- Md degree and ABIM certification or eligibility in both Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine.
- High-quality training in Pulmonary and Critical Care; demonstrated excellence as a physician and role model for trainees.
- Experience in academic research and/or educational activities with a strong likelihood of ongoing achievement.
- Ability to obtain work authorization in the United States and maintain status under the applicable visa category.
This role is dually employed by University of Minnesota Physicians and the University of Minnesota. Total salary is market competitive and based on AAMC salary benchmarks. Clinical salary, aligned with clinical effort, is provided through M Physicians. The base salary range for this position is 272,669 to 411,672 USD, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and cFTE. Salary from the University depends on academic effort.
