Overview
Allina Health seeks an experienced and distinguished physician leader to serve as the inaugural Medical Director of Bone Marrow Transplant & Cellular Therapy within the Allina Health Cancer Institute (AHCI). This is a compelling opportunity for an accomplished cellular therapy physician to shape and advance a high-acuity, high-growth Blood and Marrow Transplantation and Cellular Therapy program within a fully integrated health system.
The Medical Director will inherit a strong clinical foundation and be charged with elevating the program's operational maturity, regulatory rigor, and system-wide alignment as cellular therapies continue to expand in volume, complexity, and strategic importance.

Led by Dr. Badrinath Konety, AHCI is a transformational vehicle to improve care for almost 18,000 people diagnosed with cancer each year in the Twin Cities region. The Cancer Institute provides comprehensive, patient-centered cancer care across a broad regional network, delivering services from diagnosis and treatment through survivorship. Today, the Institute cares for over 50,000 unique cancer patients per year, including over 7,500 new cases annually.
In leading the newly formed Bone Marrow Transplant & Cellular Therapy Program, the successful candidate will have the ability to build a cohesive, high-performing program that integrates inpatient, outpatient, laboratory, manufacturing, and support services into a unified operating model. With increasing demand for CAR-T, transplant, and next-generation cellular therapies, this leader will play a central role in scaling capacity, standardizing care delivery, and ensuring consistent quality and compliance across the enterprise.
This role offers the opportunity to partner closely with senior physician and administrative leaders to drive operational excellence and position the program for long-term sustainability in a rapidly evolving therapeutic landscape.
Responsibilities- Provide strategic and clinical leadership for the Bone Marrow Transplant & Cellular Therapy program within AHCI.
- Scale capacity, standardize care delivery, and ensure high-quality, compliant operations across inpatient, outpatient, laboratory, manufacturing, and support services.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to align the program with system goals and regulatory standards.
- Oversee clinical governance, quality and safety initiatives, and performance improvement efforts.
- Foster interdisciplinary collaboration among hematology/oncology, transplant, research, and support teams.
- Serve as a mentor and lead clinician for the program with a focus on sustainability and growth in a rapidly evolving therapeutic landscape.
- Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree required.
- Completion of a hematology/oncology fellowship program approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
- Established record of leadership in bone marrow transplantation and cellular therapy preferred.
- Experience with CAR-T, transplant, and next-generation cellular therapies is advantageous.
Estimated salary range: $550,000 - $600,000. The compensation will vary based on the selected candidate's background.
