Transplant Pulmonology - Academic Physician

Overview

The Department of Medicine's Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine (PACCS) seeks an Assistant or Associate Professor faculty on the Academic or Clinician Track with a primary clinical focus on lung transplantation. PACCS includes nationally recognized programs in interstitial lung disease, COPD, cystic fibrosis, critical care medicine, and sleep medicine and strives to develop new treatments, conduct research, and provide high‑quality clinical care.

This academic track faculty member will devote at least 85% effort (90% or 95% for Clinician Track) to providing high quality clinical care at the University of Minnesota Medical Center, the University of Minnesota Clinics and Surgery Center, and the University of Minnesota East Bank Hospital. The remaining effort will be dedicated to education and collaborative research activities with an expectation of demonstrated scholarly accomplishments consistent with promotion in the academic track (an average of at least one publication per year, for example).

The faculty will participate actively in PACCS Division and Department of Medicine clinical and academic programs, attend departmental and division conferences, journal clubs, core curriculum lectures, and provide teaching of students, residents and fellows. Faculty are expected to develop a regional and then national reputation in their area of expertise and may reduce clinical effort with participation in salary‑supported research or program leadership activities.

Applicants must have an M.D. and be ABIM certified or eligible in both Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. Candidates should have high quality training in Pulmonary and Critical Care, be excellent physicians and role models for trainees, and have experience in academic research and/or educational activities with a high likelihood of ongoing achievement. Applicants must have the ability to receive work authorization in the United States and maintain legal status according to the requirements of the VISA category while in the United States.

Salary is market competitive and based on AAMC benchmarks. Clinical salary, aligned with clinical effort, is provided through M Physicians with a base salary range of $272,669 – $411,672 commensurate with experience, qualifications, and full‑time equivalent. The University salary depends on the academic effort of the person hired.
