Description

An Intern is a student in an Architecture or related Degree Program[CL1.1]. The duties of an Intern will be based initially on the skills they enter the firm with and may range from computer design technology to basic knowledge of Architectural practice and skills. This is a learning position. The Intern will draft, sketch, take field measurements and experience many of the skills and activities that are present in the studio to which they are assigned.

As skills and aptitude for different aspects of practice appear the Intern will receive assignments designed to capitalize on them and begin to prepare them for other roles. The intern will learn the functions of a Drafter, Job Captain and then Project Architect and/or Project Manager. The combination of skills and responsibilities will be determined by the development of the Intern and by the needs of the Office;

some placing more emphasis on technical skills and others on graphic skills, and successful completion of the Architecture Licensure testing process. It is preferred that the Intern take the appropriate steps to enter the IDP Program and follow it through to completion, whereupon they may begin taking the Architectural Registration Exams.
