About the Job

Marketing Assistant (8341MK, M&C Pro 1, Marketing Generalist) – University of Minnesota Press. This temporary position is expected to last through December 2026.

Responsibilities
  • Copywriting (50%)
    • Send materials to copywriters and coordinate descriptive text editing and approval with editors and authors.
    • Solicit and edit book endorsements.
    • Prepare and route back cover copy.
  • Promotions (30%)
    • Implement Net Galley and Goodreads listings, giveaways, and promotions.
    • Produce print and digital advance reading copies for publicity.
    • Research and pitch IG influencers to promote books and authors.
    • Journal ad production.
  • Administrative (20%)
    • Send marketing plans and marketing tip sheets to authors and route communications to department members.
    • Enter and maintain all descriptive copy and blurbs in MP and Title Management.
    • Check Presswide email account and route to appropriate staff.
    • Place comp copy orders upon request.
  • Other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree or a combination of related education and work experience to equal at least four years.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with book publishing.
  • Experience with InDesign, Adobe, Google Suite, and Filemaker Pro.

Pay

Pay Range: $25.73-$27.00/hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 100% Time Appointment

Position Type: Civil-Service & Non-Faculty Labor Represented Staff

Work Profile: This position has been designated as Work Profile 3, Mostly Remote – is expected to typically work in the office/lab 1-2 days per week. Working remotely at least 3 days per week. Your dedicated office space will be in your remote work location.
