Position Summary
The Project Architect facilitates and coordinates architectural and engineering services throughout a project's lifecycle. Acting as a key point of contact for the client and project team, the role supports the Project Manager to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget. This position requires leadership, technical expertise, and excellent communication skills while contributing to the design and documentation process.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain client relationships and support the Project Manager in securing repeat business.
- Lead project design efforts, coordinating with team members and consultants.
- Prepare and review working drawings and construction documents.
- Ensure design consistency, accuracy, and adherence to codes and client requirements.
- Assist with project submittals, budget reviews, and in-house and client design approvals.
- Monitor project progress, schedules, and budgets; address technical issues.
- Participate in marketing, public relations, and client interviews as needed.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to project staff, fostering a positive work environment.
- Track construction and post-construction progress to clarify intent of construction documents.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Project Manager or President.
Directs project design and systems within budget and schedule limitations. Coordinates assignments with the Project Manager and instructs team members on design and technical issues. Cannot change project scope without approval from the Project Manager.
Relationships
Works closely with the Project Manager, clients, design professionals, and contractors. Responsible for the quality of design work and promotes inter-departmental collaboration.
Knowledge & Experience Required
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture.
- Currently pursuing architectural registration (NCARB exams).
- Strong potential in job knowledge, communication, leadership, planning, teamwork, decision-making, and problem-solving.
- Encouraged to participate in professional associations.
- General supervision by a registered architect.
- Work in a busy office environment under tight deadlines.
- Ability to work beyond standard hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Supervisory skills and high-level reasoning, math, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and travel to job sites as required.
